Your First Psychiatric Evaluation: What to Expect, Insurance & Costs

Booking a first psychiatric appointment can feel like a big step. Here’s exactly what to expect at Psychnic.

How long is the first visit?

The initial evaluation is one hour with Provider George Kieh, MSN, APN, FNP-C, PMHNP-BC,-C. Follow-up visits are 15–30 minutes.

What happens during the evaluation

  • We listen to your concerns. You are the expert on your experience
  • We review your history and current symptoms
  • We make a diagnosis and explain it clearly
  • Together, we set your goal of care and treatment plan

Insurance accepted

We accept Aetna, UnitedHealthcare/Optum, Oscar, MultiPlan, Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, AmeriHealth, Tricare, Medicare, and Medicaid.

Self-pay costs

For out-of-network or cash patients: $298 for the one-hour initial evaluation and $148 for each 15–30 minute follow-up visit. Co-payments can be made by cash, Visa, or Mastercard.

What are your hours?

Monday to Friday, 9:30 AM–5:30 PM.

Is there a no-show fee?

No. There is no penalty for a no-show, but please call to cancel if you can’t make it.
